The National Assembly of Deputies approved in first debate a package of reforms to its Internal Regulation, aimed at strengthening transparency, improving legislative processes, and establishing greater controls over the functioning of commissions and parliamentary administration. Among the most relevant changes is the prohibition of appointing relatives up to the fourth degree of consanguinity, a measure aimed at preventing nepotism within the Legislative Branch. In the same vein, the Budget Commission will become public, and mandatory broadcasts of sessions are established, reinforcing access to information. Another approved point states that commissions not installed within a 10-day period must go to immediate election, while the leadership of these bodies must be chosen a maximum of three days after their installation. The project must continue its legislative process in second debate before its eventual final approval.
